Ten Fatherly Advices from Proverbs (10.06.12) - Part One

(1) Proverb 1:8-19 - Do not get into troubles
- due to ill gotten gains
- do not be greedy of ungodly gains
- do not give into sinner's consent as they bring much consequences

(2) Proverbs 2:1-22 - Hunger, thirst for Godly wisdom
- Blessed are those who are hungry and thirsty for Godly wisdom
- conditional due to 'if'
- in order to gain Godly wisdom, we have to hunger, thirst, search, seek after it
- Godly wisdom comes with intimate relationship with God himself, close to His word that we mayknow His ways, to do His will
- We fail because we use human wisdom

(3) Proverbs 3:1-12 - To fear the Lord and trust Him with all our heart
- keep commandment in our heart, inscribe them in our heart
- trust God with all our heart
- Proverbs 4:23 (keep guard our heart with diligence)
- God disciplines His child whom He loves (v11-12)
- be prepared for trials and testings
- hardship is a form of testing, out of the testing God's goodness will be manifested

(4) Proverbs 4:1-14 - To leave a Godly legacy to the next, next generation
- Godly wisdom can be passed on from generations to generations
- Deuteronomy 6:4-9

(5) Proverbs 3:21-32 - To walk in the pathway of wisdom with all our hearts
- sound discernments and judgements
- to be humble, because of God's grace
- reminder of five 'do nots'
- to acquire wisdom we need maintenance (i.e. we walk the talk / practice what we preached)
