Magnify Our God (31.06.12)

Text: Psalm 40:1-17
- Magnify God in our times of darkness, when we're helpless, unable to save ourselves

Psalm 40:1-3
(a) Waited for God to rescue him when David was stuck in the pit, crying for help. 
- We're limited in all our ways and we cannot do accomplish many things.
(b) When David was lifted out of the pit of despair, God came to his rescue.
- God will surely help us in our hour of despair.
(c) David put a new song in his heart when / after he was rescued.
- Joy within can be expressed.

Magnify God
- means to make Him bigger / to enlarge Him
(1) Through the songs of praises, keep praising Him when we magnify Christ, to glorify our deliverer.
- To testify His great deliverance in our lives. Personalize praises in our hearts will bring healing to our pain and griefs, lifting us out of the pit.
(2) v4-10
- to trust and wait upon the Lord, God will answer our prayers.
- to trust means to have a genuine firm belief and to have an unwavering confident in the Lord.
(3) Magnify God through my responsibility (v11-17).
- Magnify God by doing His will.
- To let God's word takes root in our heart in order to receive God's favor in our lives.
- We have responsibilities within and without for God's glory to be manifested.
     ~ Witness for Christ
     ~ Give resources that Christ has given to us
     ~ Give grace as we have received grace from God
     ~ Delight ourselves in Christ
     ~ To exemplify our services for Christ
     ~ Look to Christ as the overcoming God
     ~ Be empowered by the word of God
