Friendship and Partnership
~ Ecclesiastes 4:9 - Two are better than one
~ Salvation is personal but never private (saved to serve others)
~ Christians are to live in community
~ One another injunction.. We need people
~ Where two or three are gathered (Matthew 18:20)
Benefits of Friendship and Partnership
(1) Increases productivity (Ecclesiastes 4:9)
- Good return of our work
(2) Reduces vulnerability (Ecclesiastes 4:10)
- Beware of Satan who looks out for sole Christians
- Tempts them to be weak in their faith in God
(3) Provides security (Ecclesiastes 4:11)
(4) Provides safety (Ecclesiastes 4:12)
- In numbers we will have safety
- Three cords strand = third cord is Jesus Christ
Stand In Awe Of God
~ Guard your steps (be very careful)
~ Go near to listen rather than to open the sacrifice of fools
- going through religion rites without righteousness
- create rituals without relationship with God
- execute motions without morality
- making rash promises to God without keeping them
The Sacred Vow
~ We enter into a covenant relationship with God when we welcome Jesus Christ as our Saviour and Lord of our lives
~ What is this covenant relationship?
~ Have you made any vows?
~ Have you fulfilled your vow?
Conclusion:
Ecclesiastes 5:5-6 - It is better not to vow man make a vow and not fulfil it. Do not let mouth lead you to sin. Stand in awe of God, revere Him, worship Him with sincere heart.
