Ecclesiastes 12:9-14
(Final Sermon) - If you fear God and keeps His commandments
Conclusion to book of Ecclesiastes
"Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter, what is the fear of the Lord?"
What is not:-
(1) It is not fright nor being terrified
(2) It is not a morbid or negative type of fear
(3) It is not a demonic type of fear (a type of spirit)
(4) It is not a fear of mankind
(5) It is not a psychological or emotional fear
Biblical fear of the Lord
(1) A positive respect and honor
(2) Reverence and awe for God's glory
(3) Draws you nearer rather than drive apart
(4) Love is a common factor
(5) Assurance of care and protection rather than harm or injury
(6) Trust and obey His word and wisdom
Isreal meets the Lord (Exodus 20:18-21 / Deuteronomy 10:12-13)
- The fear of the people
- The calmness of Moses
- Our response in worship
Blessings of the fear of the Lord (Isaiah 33:5-6)
- The Lord is exalted on high
- He will fill Zion with justice and righteousness
- He will be the sure foundation for your times
- A rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge
- The fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure
(1) Fear of the Lord brings wisdom (Proverbs 9:10)
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding."
(2) Brings blessings from generation to generation (Proverbs 14:26)
"He who fears the Lord has a secure fortress and for His children it will be a refuge."

(3) Brings peace of mind (Proverbs 15:16)
"Better a little with the fear of the Lord than great wealth with turmoil."
(4) Brings satisfaction and contentment (Proverbs 19:23)
"The fear of the Lord leads to life."
(5) Brings wealth, honor and life (Proverbs 14:27, 22:4)
"Humility and the fear of the Lord bring wealth, honor and life."
(6) Brings God's great goodness (Psalm 31:19)
(7) Brings God's protection and attention (Psalm 33:18)
"It's an honor when God's eyes are upon our lives." (Psalm 34:7)
