"Faith & Works"

Text: Romans 3:21-26; Romans 1:16-18; Ephesians 2:4-10; James 2:14-19

Grace, Faith, Justification
- Salvation is by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:5-8)
- Justification is by grace alone (Romans 3:20)
- Justification is by faith alone (Romans 1:17)

Meaning of Justification
- A term used in law courts
- Two Latin words "justus", just or fair
- "Facio", to make or to do
Justification is to make just or right, to make righteous or right standing.

Meaning of Faith
- "Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." - Hebrews 11:1
- Unquestioning belief without requiring evidence of proof
+ F.A.I.T.H. - Feeling Afraid I Trust Him
+ F.A.I.T.H. - Forsaking All I Take Him
+ F.A.I.T.H. - Faith Asks Impossible Things Humbly

What Faith is Not:
- A Decision
- A Set of Rules
- A System of Doctrines

What Biblical Faith is:
- A Covenant Relationship : Genuine Biblical faith is always relational in the Old Testament (Noah - Genesis 9:8-11, Abraham - Genesis 15:18). In the New Testament (covenant) at the Lord's supper instilled the New Covenant through the cup (1 Corinthians 11:25).
- Biblical Faith has a Content : In content of the Bible, faith is stated in the work, the death, the resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord (Galatians 2:19-20).
- Biblical Faith Involves - A Life- Long Commitment : First the courtship, getting to know each other like the content of our faith, then second stage of falling in love and counting the cost and thirdly, stage of commitment - the exchange of vows (1 Corinthians 13:13 - Perseverance of Faith, Hope and Love).

Faith & Works
✓ The way Paul presented the Gospel in Romans and Ephesians:- Salvation or justification is by faith and faith alone.
✓ The way James put it, "Faith without works is dead!"
- Different perspectives : with the way and the fruit

Conclusion:
Titus 3:1-2, 4-8
It is not faith and work, it is not faith or works, it is faith that works
